PCB may send 'vigilance expert' with Champions Trophy squad for protection against fixers
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly planning to send a `vigilance expert` with its squad to England during the ICC Champions Trophy to protect the players from potential match fixers.
Confirming a proposal to send a vigilance expert to the Champions Trophy along with a security official, a PCB official said that the purpose of sending such an expert along with the team is to monitor the presence of any unwanted people around the team in England.
The official further said that the vigilance officer will not be undercover, adding that he will be a part of the team if he goes to England.
Security manager Waseem Ahmed has been travelling with the team after being appointed soon after the spot-fixing scandal during Pakistan`s last tour of England in 2010 for which Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir and former captain Salman Butt are serving lengthy bans, the report added.
