PCB chief selector Qasim resigns from post
Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief selector Iqbal Qasim has reportedly resigned from his post on Thursday.
According to the Express Tribune, the PCB dissolved the selection committee soon after the resignation of Qasim, who had recently announced the national squad for the West Indies tour starting from July 3.
Qasim, who was appointed as chief selector after former chief selector Mohammad Illyas resigned from the post on March 1, 2012, had resigned after his work tenure ended, saying that he does not want to continue working as the head selector.
According to the report, Qasim`s appointment was made by the then PCB chairman Mohammad Zaka Ashraf .
Recently, the PCB team management and selection committee were severely criticised for the team`s performance at the ICC Champions Trophy in the UK, with the report adding that calls for the resignation were accompanied by demands to overhaul the squad.
Despite the poor show, the selectors, had, however, said there were hardly any flaws in team selection.
