PV Sindhu storms into Rio Olympics final: From PM Modi to Sonia Gandhi know who all congratulated the ace shuttler

Ace shuttler PV Sindhu thumped Nozomi Okuhara of Japan to enter the finals of the women's singles event of badminton competitions at the Rio Olympic Games on Thursday. Here is how people reacted to her emphatic win.

Rio de Janeiro: Ace shuttler PV Sindhu thumped Nozomi Okuhara of Japan to enter the finals of the women's singles event of badminton competitions at the Rio Olympic Games here on Thursday.

She beat her Japanese rival in straight sets registering a 21-19, 21-10 triumph in the semi-finals.

With this win, Sindhu has also assured India of its second medal.  PV Sindhu will be the first Indian woman badminton player to win either a Gold or a Silver medal in the Olympics.

P V Sindhu will also be the fifth Indian woman to win a medal in the Olympics after Karnam Malleswari, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal and Sakshi Malik

 

 

President Pranab Mukherjee, her proud family members and several eminent personalities from the sports world congratulated Sindhu for creating history and extended their good wishes for the final clash.

-In his message, President Pranab Mukherjee wished PV Sindhu all the best for the finals.

-PM Narendra Modi was quick to congratulate PV Sindhu for her superb performance at the Rio Olympics.

-Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul and several others also congratulated Sindhu for making the country proud.

 

-We are very happy! We are very happy!: PV Sindhu's father after she entered the finals.

-She has made India proud, was flawless today, totally in-charge: Supriya Devgan, former Badminton player.

-We have been going to the temple everyday and even tomorrow we will. She will win by god's grace: PV Sindhu's mother.

-Ace shooter Abhinav Bindra too congratulated Sindhu on her historic win.
