Imran Tahir is adjudged Man of the Match for his excellent spell as he registered a 5-fer! That's all from this game, South Africa have won the only T20I and have kicked off the Kiwi tour on a high. The hosts would be disappointed with the dismal show today and would very well know they have to be on top of their game if they are to compete against the strong Protea side. The action now shifts to Hamilton for the first ODI on Sunday, 19th February, 2017 at 1400 local time (0100 GMT). Do join us to catch all the action. Until then, goodbye and take care. Cheers!
After posting a big total in the first innings, this pitch did not look easy at all as all the South African bowlers extracted good bounce from it making the Kiwi batsmen struggle in the middle. They hardly looked in the game as the Proteas dominated them throughout in all departments. South Africa will be elated with today's performance and would be hoping to continue in the similar manner throughout this tour.
The required run rate kept climbing, the pressure started swelling. Tahir then came into the attack in the ninth over and scripted a different story altogether. He struck twice in his second over as he sent Bruce and Ronchi back off successive balls. Southee had a brief stay where he smacked 20 off 6 balls but soon Tahir sent him packing back. The latter ended with figures of 3.5-0-24-5, his best so far in this format.
South Africa have totally demolished the hosts with a complete all round performance. They were on top from the very first ball as they hardly bowled a loose delivery. Morris struck two wickets in succession in his third over to send the debutant Glenn Phillips and Colin Munro back in the hut. In his short stay at the crease, skipper Williamson struggled to score. Tom Bruce kept hold at one end but eventually was running out of partners.
14.5: I Tahir to Tim Southee, OUT! YES HE CAN, YES HE CAN! He's not only got his maiden fifer in T20I but also has turned the match on its head with his fantastic bowling. It's the googly again, Wheeler looks to play across the line, gets beaten and off comes the bail of the off stump. SOUTH AFRICA WIN BY 78 RUNS!
14.4: I Tahir to T Boult, Looped up delivery, outside off, Boult eases it down through mid on for a single.
Trent Boult is the last man in.
14.3: I Tahir to Ben Wheeler, OUT! BOWLED 'EM! Tahir sets off and that means only one thing. Bowls the top spinner, Wheeler shuffles across looking to heave it over the leg side, misses and the ball crashes onto the stumps. Now then, he's got four wickets, can he dismiss one more batsman for a five-wicket haul?
14.2: I Tahir to Ben Wheeler, Floated up, outside off, Wheeler hits it back to Tahir who makes a diving save.
14.1: I Tahir to Ben Wheeler, FOUR! Tosses this one around leg, Wheeler comes down the track looking to flick but inside edges it past QDK and the ball rolls away for a boundary.
End of over 14 (20 runs): New Zealand 102/8 ( Tim Southee 20 (5b 0x4 3x6), Ben Wheeler 2 (3b 0x4 0x6), W Parnell 3-0-40-0)
13.6: W Parnell to Tim Southee, SIX! Top edge and into the fence! Back of a length delivery outside off, rising off the deck as Southee goes for a wild pull only to get a top edge. The ball goes over the keeper's head for a biggie over fine leg. Third maximum off the over. Parnell was taken to the cleaners as he conceded 20 from this one.
13.5: W Parnell to Ben Wheeler, Short delivery into the body, Wheeler pulls it towards deep mid-wicket for a single.
13.4: W Parnell to Ben Wheeler, Back of a length delivery outside off, Wheeler tries to cut it but he misses.
13.3: W Parnell to Tim Southee, Outside off, Southee guides it down to third man for a single.
13.2: W Parnell to Tim Southee, SIX! And again! Short and wide outside off, Southee slams it hard over the point region for a biggie. The third man fielder had no chance to catch it as the ball sails over the fence for another maximum.
13.1: W Parnell to Tim Southee, SIX! On the pads, Southee camps back and slogs it deep down the leg side towards square leg. This has gone the distance and Southee gets his first biggie of the night.
Wayne Parnell is back into the attack.
End of over 13 (14 runs): New Zealand 82/8 ( Tim Southee 1 (1b 0x4 0x6), Ben Wheeler 1 (1b 0x4 0x6), I Tahir 3-0-19-3)
12.6: I Tahir to Tim Southee, Outside off, Southee drives it through covers for a single.
12.5: I Tahir to Ben Wheeler, Wheeler drives it towards long on for a single.
Tim Southee is the new man in.
12.4: I Tahir to de Grandhomme, OUT! Tahir gets his man! Tossed up outside off, he goes again for a biggie but this time on the off side. But unfortunately he miscues it high in the air towards sweeper cover. Duminy comes in a couple of steps and takes a good catch to see the back of de Grandhomme. South Africa need 2 more wickets to win the game.
12.3: I Tahir to de Grandhomme, SIX! Floated up outside off, de Grandhomme gets to the pitch of the ball and hoists it down the ground for a maximum. This ball went way deep into the stands.
12.2: I Tahir to de Grandhomme, SIX! Tossed up in the line of the stumps, Colin gets it in his slot as he slog sweeps it over the square leg region for a maximum.
12.1: I Tahir to de Grandhomme, Shorter just outside off, de Grandhomme defends it back to the bowler.
Ben Wheeler walks out in the middle.
End of over 12 (8 runs): New Zealand 68/7 ( M Santner 5 (6b 1x4 0x6), de Grandhomme 3 (3b 0x4 0x6), A Phehlukwayo 3-0-19-3)
11.6: A Phehlukwayo to M Santner, OUT! Wickets are pouring in and South Africa is all smiles. Length ball, outside off, Santner tries to push it through covers but ends up hitting it towards Amla, who takes a catch diving ahead. Santner has to walk back, ABD has certainly enjoyed this catch and shares that so with Amla.
11.5: A Phehlukwayo to de Grandhomme, Length ball, around middle amnd leg, de Grandhomme flicks it through mid-wicket for a single.
11.5: A Phehlukwayo to de Grandhomme, WIDE! This short delivery is too high for de Grandhomme and umpire calls it wide.
11.4: A Phehlukwayo to M Santner, Short of a length delivery, Santner dabs it to third man and runs one.
11.3: A Phehlukwayo to M Santner, FOUR! Sloppy fielding by Tahir at third man. Back of a length delivery, outside off, Santner guides it through point. Tahir hares across from third man, reaches the ball but loses his balance and parries it past the boundary line.
11.2: A Phehlukwayo to M Santner, Length delivery, swinging away, Santner stays in his crease and offers solid defense.
11.1: A Phehlukwayo to de Grandhomme, Length ball, around leg, de Grandhomme pulls it in front of square and runs a single.
End of over 11 (1 run): New Zealand 60/6 ( M Santner 0 (2b 0x4 0x6), de Grandhomme 1 (1b 0x4 0x6), I Tahir 2-0-5-2)
10.6: I Tahir to M Santner, Shorter delivery into the stumps, Santner camps back and mistimes it back to the bowler. New Zealand need 126 runs off 54 balls.
10.5: I Tahir to M Santner, Santner gets to the pitch of the delivery and defends it.
Mitchell Santner comes out at the centre to face the hat-trick ball. A slip has been deployed.
10.4: I Tahir to L Ronchi, OUT! Golden duck for Ronchi! Another wrong' un tossed up outside off, Ronchi goes to play it for the spin inside the line but he edges it. Quinton de Kock makes no mistake and pouches a fine catch to send his counter part back. The Kiwis are struggling out in the middle. And with that wicket Tahir is on a hat-trick chance.
Luke Ronchi has arrived at the crease.
10.3: I Tahir to Tom Bruce, OUT! TAHIR STRIKES! Floated outside off, but this time a wrong' un. Bruce dances down the track as he goes for a big heave across the line. He is beaten by the inward spin as the ball goes on to rattle the stumps. Tahir is excited as he celebrates it with thumps on his chest. New Zealand seem to have lost the plot here.
10.2: I Tahir to Tom Bruce, Quicker delivery way outside off but just inside the line, Bruce has left that through as it was really wide.
10.1: I Tahir to de Grandhomme, Floated outside off, Colin drives it towards mid off for a single.
End of over 10 (5 runs): New Zealand 59/4 ( Tom Bruce 33 (25b 3x4 2x6), de Grandhomme 0 (0b 0x4 0x6), A Phehlukwayo 2-0-11-2)

9.5: A Phehlukwayo to Tom Bruce, FOUR! Outside off on a length, Bruce camps back and slashes it through point to get another boundary under his belt.
9.4: A Phehlukwayo to Tom Bruce, Good length delivery which nips in a bit, Tom Bruce tries to defend it but he misses.
Colin de Grandhomme is the new man in.
9.3: A Phehlukwayo to C Anderson, OUT! ANOTHER WICKET FALLS! Good length delivery into the stumps, Corey Anderson makes room and tries to go for a biggie. He top edges it and the ball goes in the air just behind the stumps. Quinton goes towards his left and takes a fine catch. Phelukwayo is really happy as he taken another wicket.
9.2: A Phehlukwayo to Tom Bruce, Good length delivery outside off, Broom makes room and slaps it straight towards long on for a single.

7.6: W Parnell to Tom Bruce, Bruce defends this length ball towards the off side.
7.5: W Parnell to Tom Bruce, SIX! Shortish delivery, around middle, Bruce waits for it and pulls it over deep backward square leg for a maximum. There is a fielder positioned exactly for that shot, but all he can do is watch it sail over him.
7.4: W Parnell to C Anderson, Back of a length delivery, outside off, Anderson knocks it through third man for a single.
7.3: W Parnell to C Anderson, Length ball, around middle, Anderson bottom edges this through fine leg. Paterson makes a magnificent diving safe running across from long leg and saves two runs for his side. They run a brace.

Corey Anderson is the next man in.
6.3: A Phehlukwayo to K Williamson, OUT! The pressure does him there. Short delivery, Williamson pulls it away from his crease and holes out to Parnell at deep square leg. The captain is disappointed. Parnell takes a good catch running to his right. Phehlukwayo has struck in his very first over.
6.2: A Phehlukwayo to K Williamson, Williamson charges down the track and mistimes this length delivery to covers.
6.1: A Phehlukwayo to K Williamson, FOUR! Length ball, down the legside, Williamson swivels across and pulls it towards long leg for a boundary. Shabby delivery and Williamson duly punishes it.
Andile Phehlukwayo comes to bowl his first over of the day.
End of over 6 (10 runs): New Zealand 34/2 ( Tom Bruce 18 (14b 2x4 1x6), K Williamson 9 (10b 1x4 0x6), W Parnell 1-0-10-0)
5.6: W Parnell to Tom Bruce, Bruce pulls this back of a length delivery through mid-wicket for a brace.
5.5: W Parnell to Tom Bruce, FOUR! Good length delivery, outside off, Bruce clears his front leg and cuts it through covers for a boundary. It was necessary to score a boundary, given this is the final over before the Powerplay and he did score one.

4.6: C Morris to Tom Bruce, FOUR! Length ball, on the sticks, Bruce backs away and cuts it past the point fielder for a boundary.
4.5: C Morris to Tom Bruce, Yorker length, Bruce goes back looking to flick but it misses him and the stumps. Close shave that!

2.4: C Morris to Tom Bruce, Full ball, on the sticks, Bruce drives this to mid on.
2.3: C Morris to Tom Bruce, No he doesn't. Length ball, around leg, not a wicket taking ball certainly. Bruce flicks it to mid-wicket.
Tom Bruce walks out next to bat to face the hat-trick ball.
2.2: C Morris to C Munro, OUT! Bowled 'em! Chris Morris is on a roll here! Back-to-back wickets for him. Full length delivery, angling in a touch, Munro facing his first ball looks to attack as he tries to thwack it over long on but completely misses it. The ball nips back in sharply and crashes into the stumps. The Saffas are ecstatic! Poor shot from Munro and he's paid the price for it. Can Morris pick up a hat-trick?
Colin Munro will bat at number 3.
2.1: C Morris to G Phillips, OUT! Morris removes the debutant Phillips for 5. Full ball, angling in, Phillips looks to flick it, but unfortunately for him the shot wasn't there. Ends up inside edging it to QDK who takes a sharp catch and starts celebrating instantly. He knows it is out and the umpire doesn't disagree too.
End of over 2 (5 runs): New Zealand 10/0 ( G Phillips 5 (10b 0x4 0x6), K Williamson 5 (2b 1x4 0x6), D Paterson 1-0-5-0)

0.1: C Morris to G Phillips, Outside off on a good length, left alone.
We are back for the chase. Glenn Phillips and Kane Williamson to open the batting for New Zealand. Chris Morris to start off with the new ball. Here we go...
Given the short boundaries and flat nature of the pitch, the Kiwis could fancy their chances to chase it down. Can the Protea bowlers keep their lines and lengths tight? Join us in a bit to see what happens next...
As far as New Zealand are concerned, all the bowlers leaked runs except Trent Boult. His spell was the reason that South Africa couldn't go past the 200-run mark. He allowed only two runs in his last over which included three dots and Behardien's wicket. The Kiwis were also very athletic in the field which saved them at least 7 to 10 runs.
A good batting performance from South Africa has ensured that they ask New Zealand to chase 186. They would defer to agree that the short boundaries also helped. It was Amla who started the assault at the start. His timing was supreme and he maintained that throughout the match. At one time, it felt that the visitors can cross the 200-run mark but wickets kept tumbling at the other end and they failed to do so.
19.6: Tim Southee to W Parnell, FOUR! Short and sprayed down the leg side, Parnell shuffles across and guides it wide through the short fine leg region for a boundary. SOUTH AFRICA FINISH ON 185/6.
Wayne Parnell arrives at the crease.
19.5: Tim Southee to C Morris, OUT! Leg cutter outside off, Morris goes for a heave and he misses. Duminy wants the strike as he comes running in from the non-striker's end. The keeper picks it up and throws it on the stumps. The ball hits and Duminy keeps walking towards the dug out. Just one ball left in the innings.
19.4: Tim Southee to C Morris, Fuller delivery outside off, Morris drives it hard through the cover region for a couple.
19.3: Tim Southee to C Morris, Slower delivery on the pads, Morris goes to hit on the leg side but he is beaten by pace. No run taken.
19.2: Tim Southee to C Morris, Morris comes down the track early and Southee sees it. He fires it wide outside off and the batsman cannot reach it.
19.1: Tim Southee to C Morris, SIX! WHACKED! Short into the body, Morris slaps it with a flat bat over the mid-wicket region for a biggie. That was a top shot.
Tim Southee will bowl the final over.
End of over 19 (2 runs): South Africa 173/5 ( JP Duminy 29 (16b 2x4 2x6), C Morris 1 (2b 0x4 0x6), T Boult 4-0-8-2)
18.6: T Boult to JP Duminy, Swing and a miss. Full delivery and wide, Duminy looks to drive but misses again. Golden over this, only two off it and a wicket. Also a brilliant spell. His figures are 4-0-8-2.
18.5: T Boult to JP Duminy, Length ball, outside off, Duminy looks to drive but misses.
18.4: T Boult to C Morris, Morris drives this length ball through covers for a single.
18.3: T Boult to C Morris, Back of a length delivery, around off, Morris runs down the track to pull it like McCullum but eventually has to duck to leave it alone.
18.2: T Boult to JP Duminy, Slower delivery, outside off, Duminy pushes this through covers and runs one.
Chris Morris will replace Farhaan Behardien in the middle.
18.1: T Boult to F Behardien, OUT! Boult strikes straightaway. Length ball, around off, Behardien gets under it and looks to loft it over long off. But he knows he hasn't connected it well, can clearly understand that after seeing his expression. Anderson cups it easily at long off.
Trent Boult is recalled for a bowl.
End of over 18 (14 runs): South Africa 171/4 ( F Behardien 8 (6b 0x4 1x6), JP Duminy 28 (13b 2x4 2x6), Ben Wheeler 4-0-49-1)
17.6: Ben Wheeler to F Behardien, Bowls another yorker, Behardien clears his front leg and knocks it through mid on for a single.

They appeal and the umpire takes it upstairs. However, replays show Duminy did well to get inside the crease.
The umpire has gone upstairs for a run out appeal against Duminy. It seems pretty close to the naked eye.
Ben Wheeler is back in for a bowl.

Hello and a warm welcome for the only T20I between New Zealand and South Africa. Both the teams have been clinical at their homes in the ODIs and will want to continue their rich vein of form. The fact that the Proteas have a very good record against the Kiwis in this format, might just give them the edge. On the other hand, the hosts have lost only a single T20I game in their last 10 matches and would look to continue with the momentum. The weather conditions weren't good as it was raining a while ago but for now it has cleared and let's hope it stays the same throughout. Expect it to be a cracker. Join us in a while for the toss and team updates...
