Scotland stun India `A` in last-over thriller
Glasgow: India `A` opener Ajinkya Rahane`s century went in vain as a resolute Scotland beat the visitors by one wicket in a thrilling List `A` cricket match here.
Chasing a stiff 277-run target, Scotland were tottering at 64 for seven at one juncture before staging a remarkable comeback to clinch the first of the two matches in the final over.
Put in to bat, India were off to a disappointing start after opener Shikhar Dhawan and skipper Cheteshwar Pujara were sent back by Gordon Goudie, who scalped four wickets in all, for ducks.
Rahane (108) and Manoj Tiwary (71) then rebuilt the Indian innings with a 139-run fourth wicket stand.
However, India lost their way in the final 10 overs, adding just 62 runs and losing six wickets.
The Scottish chase was off to a disastrous start as the home team lost its top half with just 53 runs on the board.
But Richie Berrington (106) was holding fort at one end and he got some crucial support from Moneeb Iqbal (67).
As fortunes swung like a pendulum, India once again got the upper hand when Berrington fell with the score on 238.
But number 10 batsman Goudie rounded off a perfect day in office by contributing 26 valuable runs in an unbeaten innings to steer his team to victory in the final over.
Among the Indian bowlers, seamers Sudeep Tyagi and Dhawal Kulkarni did most of the early damage by bagging three wickets each.
