`Cric X`, India`s first cricket-based 3D animation film
Mumbai: Nearly 600 budding animators have developed India`s first-ever 3D animation movie on cricket called `Cric X`.
"Students from Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) worked through nine months and developed the 80-minute feature film under the Institute`s Mentorship Series `Creative Shop`," Sanjeev Waeerkar, Chief Creative Officer, MAAC, and the creators ((students) of the movie told media here today.
The movie is inspired by the popularity and craze people have for cricket in India.
"It revolves around the fun, excitement and dreams associated with cricket, complete with imaginative, visually appealing and excellent storytelling," Waeerkar said.
"Indian animation industry is growing by leaps and bounds and we now have many young aspirants embracing this new age career and demonstrating work of international standards," he added.
He noted that the animated film market is growing at a fast rate in India, where in the last one year alone, nearly 85 movies were announced.
"In the last few years, we have witnessed some of the well known animated movies in the country such as `Roadside Romeo`, `Ghatothkach`, `Dashavatar`, `My Friend Ganesha 2` and `Bal Hanuman`. Roadside Romeo was the first 3D animation movie out of India," Waeerkar said.
