Pune stadium named after Sahara India group head
Lucknow: The Pune stadium of Maharahtra Cricket Association has been named after the head of the Sahara India group Subrato Roy Sahara, according to a Sahara India release.
An announcement to this effect was made by ICC chief Sharad Pawar.
The stadium equipped with modern facilities was named after Roy as the ICC and BCCI norms do not permit naming of a stadium after a brand, said the release.
Sahara India, which owns Pune Warriors team in IPL, has got the rights for the naming of the stadium as per its agreement with Maharashtra Cricket association, the release said adding the group would make some construction near the stadium on its expense.
