Stanislas Wawrinka battles past Alejandro Falla to reach third round

Melbourne: In a match that lasted for 2 hours and 46 minutes, Stanislas Wawrinka moved into the third round of the Australian Open after defeating Alejandro Falla 6-3 6-3 6-7(4) 6-4. Wawrinka won the first two sets comprehensively, before the Colombian bounced back and won the third set. Falla wasn`t totally fit as his right thumb was injured and he was seen receiving medical help on several occasions. But the Swiss finished off things in style when he broke Falla's serve in the ninth game of the final set and then held his serve and off the tenth game and won the match. It is the sixth straight third round appearance for Wawrinka in the Australian Open.
