Australian Open: Andy Murray outclasses Jeremy Chardy to reach semis
Zeenews Sports Bureau

Melbourne: Andy Murray stamped his authority surpassing Jeremy Chardy in the quarter-final of the Australian Open to make it to the semi-final of the event on Wednesday.

The third seeded Briton defeated Chardy 6-4, 6-1, 6-2 in 1hr 51min at Rod Laver Arena.

Murray broke Chardy's service eight times and played a clean match with 32 winners against 20 unforced errors.

Murray had his service broken for only the second time while serving for the match but he broke back immediately in the next game to clinch a quarterfinal victory.

"Jeremy`s had a great tournament, he`s beat some top players so I needed to come out sharp and get off to a good start,” Murray said after the match.

"I had to defend a lot today, the breeze is right in your face at one end of the court, so that`s why you do all the work in the off-season to try and chase down as many balls as possible," he said.
