New Haven: Reigning champion Petra Kvitova breezed into her second straight New Haven Open final on Friday, beating fellow Czech Klara Zakopalova 6-0, 6-1 in the semi-finals of the US Open tuneup.

Kvitova, seeded third, needed just 50 minutes to get past unseeded Zakopalova on the hardcourts at Yale University.

Former Wimbledon champion Kvitova, who beat Russia`s Maria Kirilenko in last year`s final, next faces either four-time New Haven champion Caroline Wozniacki or Romanian Simona Halep.

The 23-year-old Czech will be appearing in her 14th career final. She claimed the 11th title of her career in Dubai in February.

Wozniacki, a former world number one, lifted the New Haven trophy four times from 2008 through 2011.

The Dane, currently ranked eighth in the world and seeded fourth here, hasn`t won a title since Moscow in 2012, her best performance this year a runner-up finish to Maria Sharapova at Indian Wells.

To reach the final she`ll have to stop Halep, the world number 23 whose second-round victory over Marion Bartoli at Cincinnati was quickly followed by the French Wimbledon champion`s abrupt retirement from the sport.

Halep, who has won all three of her career WTA titles this year, was then beaten in the Cincinnati quarter-finals by world number one Serena Williams.
