Easy going for Niksehp, Jagtiani in AITA tennis

Bangalore: The top two seeds BR Niksehp of Karnataka and Sanil Jagitiani of West Bengal cruised into the boys singles semi-finals of the RT Narayan Memorial AITA Under-16 National Series tennis tournament posting comfortable victories here Thursday.

Niksehp was in full flow against his talented team-mate Adil Kalyapur and raced to a 6-3, 6-1 victory in about 90 minutes while Jagitiani proved too hot for his rival PC Aniriudh of AP, winning 6-3, 6-3.

In the girls singles, second seed R Abhinikka of Tamil Nadu, ranked No.11 in the country, entered the semi-finals beating Sabhyata Nihalan of Delhi 7-6 (4 ), 6-0 and she was joined by sixth seed Shivani Swarup Ingle of Maharashtra who defeated Rutvik Shah of Gujarat 6-4, 6-0.

The other two boys and girls singles quarter-finals will be played, according to the organisers.

Boys singles (quarter-finals): Sanil Jagitiani (WB) bt PC Anirudh (AP) 6-3, 6-3; BR Niksehp (Kar ) bt Adil Kalyanpur (Kar) 6-3, 6-1. Doubles (semi-finals): Sanil Jagitiani (WB) / Parikshit Somani (Asm) bt Mayukh Rawat (Utrk) / PC Anirudh (AP) 7-6 (4), 6-4; BR Niksehp (Kar) / Yash Yadav (MP) bt RS Mohit (TN) / Uttkarsh Bharadwaj (Utrk) 6-1, 7-6 (2).
