Paris: An error-crammed Victoria Azarenka had a narrow escape against Alberta Brianti coming back from one set down to win her first round match at the Roland Garros 6-7, 6-4, 6-2.
The No.1 seed committed 60 unforced errors as compared to Alberta’s 44. After losing the first set in a tie breaker 6-8, The Belarusian went down 0-4 in the second with a possibility of getting knocked out of the tournament in the first round itself.
But Victoria applied herself well and came back strongly to win the set 6-4, than took the decisive third by 6-1 in two hours 16 minutes.
