Nadal vs Djokovic, French Open Final: Rafa rules Roland Garros for record 7th time

Paris: The undisputed King of clay, Rafael Nadal took just 50 minutes on Day 2 to bag his seventh French Open title as he defeated the World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5. As it happened» The match which was interrupted on Sunday was continued as per the scheduled time on Monday and Rafa led from the front with clean hitting and powerful forehands to outclass Djoker, who was also seeking to enter the records books. The fourth set began at the scheduled time and Nadal broke Djokovic’s serve in the very first game to equalize scores 2-2. A light drizzle once again threatened to suspend the game at one point of time but both the players decided to continue the match. Trailing 5-6, 30-40 Djokovic made a double fault at match point as Nadal went on his knees to experience his historic moment. Nadal shattered Nole’s dream of becoming the third man to win four consecutive grand slams in tennis history. In spite of the loss, Novak continues to be the World No. 1. Nadal surpassed the legendary Bjorn Borg who had won the French Open for six times.
