Paris: World No. 1 Novak Djokovic once again proved why he deserves the numero uno position as he fought back against Spaniard Rafael Nadal in men’s singles finals of French Open 2012 on Sunday.
The Serb who was trailing by two sets and then 0-2, smashed a shot right into the baseline as Rafa was stunned with his service being broken for the first time in the game.
The crowd wholeheartedly cheered that point and the facial expression of Nadal described the quality of that shot from the Super Serb.
It was probably ‘the shot’ that turned the tide in Djokovic’s favour and the crowd at the Roland Garros was once again reminded of the extraordinary tennis which Nole has been playing over the last 14 months!
It was one moment where Nadal was taken by surprise and the Serb made it sure that it was Nadal who remained frustrated for the rest of the game as he won eight consecutive games matching the Spaniard, shot by shot before rain interrupted the proceedings.
When the match was temporarily suspended, the frustration was visible on Nadal’s face as he argued with the match referee for not suspending the match when rain stalled the match for the first time.
