Nadal set for opening round tie with `veteran wildcard` Robby Ginepri at French Open

Johannesburg: World No.1 Rafael Nadal is set for a opening round tie against US veteran wildcard Robby Ginepri in a bid for his ninth French Open crown following the recent draw.

The 13-time Grand Slam winner from Spain has a 59-1 win record at Roland Garros since he first appeared in Paris in 2005, his only loss being to Robin Soderling of Sweden in a 2009 fourth round match.

According to Sport24, Nadal is facing a quarter-final tie against fellow Spaniard David Ferrer, who notched up a rare win against him recently, with either Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka or Britain`s Andy Murray waiting in the semi-finals.

However, the report mentioned that given his uncustomary struggles on clay in the buildup to Roland Garros, he is sharing the favourite tag with world No.2 Serb Novak Djokovic , who will be bidding for his first French Open title.
