India go down to Indonesia in Jr Davis Cup

New Delhi: India went down to Indonesia 1-2 in a classification match of the Asia/Oceania group in the Junior Davis Cup.

India, who had saved themselves from relegation after finishing third in Group B, will now play against New Zealand for 13-16 classification at DLTA Complex.

Fatehdeep Singh lost the opening singles to Irfandy Hendrawan 2-6, 6-7(4) but India`s number one Shaikh Abdullah drew parity by defeating M Rizky Widianto 6-2, 6-1.

Fatehdeep and Abdullah, however, lost the doubles tie to Nur Adim Ramdani and Hendrawan 5-7, 2-6.

In the group stage, India had lost to sixth seeds China 0-3 and to fourth seeds Chinese Taipei 1-2 before thrashing Sri Lanka 3-0.
