New Delhi: Nine-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal became the eighth man to win 200 Grand Slam matches on Thursday.
The Spaniard fought off a sluggish start to beat Argentina`s Facundo Bagnis at Roland Garros to achieve the milestone. He defeated the world number 99 in straight sets 6-3, 6-0, 6-3 in one hour 46 minutes.
The 29-year-old next plays either Spanish compatriot Marcel Granollers, who benefitted from the retirement of Nicolas Mahut of France, for a spot in the last 32.
Roger Federer, missing from the French Open this year, tops the all-time list of Grand Slam matches won on 302.
