Murray gets rapturous reception in Scotland

London: Tennis ace Andy Murray was given a rapturous reception as he returned to Scotland on Wednesday after losing the Wimbledon semifinal.

Murray was swamped by 2,000 frenzied fans who gave him a hero’s welcome. The world No 4 received the reception in Paisley as he promoted the Lawn Tennis Association’s revamp of the town’s tennis courts, according to media reports. He admitted it was the perfect pick-me-up from his defeat to Rafa Nadal as he gears up for Britain’s Davis Cup match against Luxembourg at Braehead, Glasgow. Police were forced to throw up a protective ring of steel around Murray, who was with his mother Judy, amid fears that overeager fans might unwittingly injure the star. An onlooker said: “Andy must have wished he had his big boxer mate David Haye to help him get through the crowds.” Murray arrived ten minutes late because mother Judy got lost driving him there.
