Kraljevo: Serbia qualified for Davis Cup quarter-finals as their doubles team led by world number one Novak Djokovic defeated Croatia in their Davis Cup world group first round tie on Saturday for an overall 3-0 lead.
Djokovic, who has replaced Viktor Troicki, and Nenad Zimonjic convincingly defeated Croatia`s Franko Skugor and Marin Draganja 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 in a match that was lasting less than two hours.
"We wanted to finish the job today, to take advantage of the fact that we won the first singles and that was done," the 27-yer-old Djokovic said but also praised Croats for their fight.
Serbian coach Bogdan Obradovic explained earlier Saturday he decided to rest Troicki after his three-hour victory over Croatian teenage sensation Borna Coric on Friday, when he fought back from two sets down.
Djokovic easily beat Mate Delic to give the 2010 winners a 2-0 lead over Croatia, who are missing US Open winner Marin Cilic due to a shoulder injury.
