Chennai: Yuki Bhambri crashed out of the Chennai Open after losing his opening round match 2-6, 1-6 to Russia`s Alexandre Kudryatsev here on Tuesday.

Nothing went right for the wild card entrant Yuki as his serves were dealt with easily by Kudryatsev, his backhand let him down badly and his forward forays produced just a few points.

While world number 159 Kudryatsev won six of his break points, the Indian could manage one break.

Though he saved two of the three matchpoints in the final game of the final set, another forehand return that Yuki failed to put across clinched it for Kudryatsev.

Yuki naturally was disappointed with the way he started the new season.

"Definitely not a good start. I have played a lot better in the past. I let myself down. I didn`t put enough balls in the court today. No matter how hard you train it doesn`t matter (when you play like this)," he said.

Yuki began well by holding his serve but Kudryatsev broke him in every service game after that.

The Russian made the main draw after three rounds of qualifying and Yuki said winning three rounds of qualifying would have given Kudryatsev confidence.

Kudryatsev will face Janko Tipsarevic in the second round.

Yuki, ranked 505 in the world, said he just hopes "to play a lot and break into the top 250 by the end of the year."
