New Delhi: Karan Rastogi staved off tough challenge before defeating Chinese Yu Chang 6-3, 6-4 to enter the final of the USD 15,000 men’s ITF Futures tournament here on Friday.
In the summit clash on Saturday, Rastogi will take on top seed Rik De Voest of South Africa, who thrashed Ranjeet Virali-Mirugesan 6-1, 6-0 in the other semifinal at the DLTA Complex.
It will be Rastogi’s second successive ITF final appearance. The 23-year-old Indian had lost to Murad Inoyatov of Uzbekistan in Kolkata last week.
Rastogi today put up a spirited performance against the Chinese in the semifinal, which saw stiff competition. The Indian came up with some consummate back-hand shots which left Chan clueless.
A double break gave the Indian the first set, though the Chinese pulled one back.
But the Indian soon rediscovered his touch to match his Chinese opponent and clinch the issue.
