New Delhi: An all-Indian final remains a possibility as national champion Ratnika Batra and Prerna Bhambri reached the singles semi-finals of the USD 10,000 ITF Futures tournament after scoring straight set victories.
Ratnika asserted her supremacy over Stephanie Scimone as she beat the fifth seed Italian 6-3, 6-2 in the quarter-finals at DLTA Complex.
Ratnika, who had beaten Stephanie in the last week`s event as well, now faces top seed Keren Shlomo of Israel.
Prerna, the lone semi-finalist for the hosts last week, ended the superb run of 15-year-old Rutuja Bhosale with an easy 6-2, 6-2 win.
Prerna proved too strong an opponent for Rutuja, who was recently crowned Asian Junior Champion.
Prerna broke Rutuja twice in both the sets to set up the semi-final clash against Belgian qualifier Desiree Bastianon, who advanced after sixth-seed South Korean Hae-Sung Kim, a finalist here last week, twisted her right ankle and conceded the match while trailing 6-4, 4-6, 1-4.
