New Delhi: India have got a bye in the first round of next year`s Asia/Oceania Group I competition in the Davis Cup tournament.
The draw for the 2012 season was made in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday.
India will now meet the winner of the first round between New Zealand and Uzbekistan to advance to the World Group play-off stage.
India`s second round tie will be held from April 6-8 and the play-offs are scheduled for September 14-16 next year.
India were relegated to the Group stage after losing the play-off tie 1-4 to Japan in Tokyo.
Japan advanced to the World group for the first time since 1985.
