Chennai: Hyderabad`s Saketh Sai Myneni earned his first ever ATP points when he downed eighth seeded James Marsalek of England in straight sets to lift his maiden ITF Singles title on Saturday.
The 6-1, 6-4 win yielded him a cash prize of Rs 62,300 and 18 ATP points.
Saketh, a wild card entrant walked to the centre court for the vital clash and overwhelmed James Marsalek, who also figured in his first ever ITF final, in all departments of the game.
An elated Saketh said on his title win that he wanted to play to his potential and was not overawed at all playing in his first ITF final tie.
"I wanted to keep the game to my potentials. This win is an encouragement that I was looking for to do better in the next three events in Pune, Delhi and Kolkata", he said.
