Serena Williams schools US teen Catherine Bellis in Miami victory
Serena Williams won her 14th consecutive match on the hardcourts of the ATP and WTA Miami Open, defeating American teenager Catherine Bellis 6-1, 6-1 on Sunday.
The 15-year-old challenger was no match for the big game of 33-year-old Williams, a 19-time Grand Slam champion seeking a record eighth trophy at her home event.
Williams is competing in Miami for the 15th time since debuting as a teenager herself in 1998, a year before Bellis was born.
The US star will next face Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova, who eliminated German 13th seed Angelique Kerber 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
