Top Indian players to grace ITF Women`s International tour

Kolkata: Top Indian players Poojashree Venkatasha, Rushmi Chakraborti and local girl Shivika Burman will be seen in action at the ITF Women`s International tournament in Saltlake from January 24-29.

The star attraction of the tournament will be Slovenia`s world ranked 395 Dalila Jakupovic.

The other top entries who have confirmed participation include Japanese duo of Mari Tanaka (ranked 462) and Sakiko Shimizu (529), Italy`s Nicole Clerico (475), Sarah-Rebecca Sekulic (556) of Germany, among others.

The tournament conducted by the Jaidip Mukerjea Tennis Academy in the courts at FE Park is a first of its kind in Kolkata and carries a prize money of USD 10,000.

The singles winner will get a cash prize of USD 1,568 while the doubles champions will get a prize purse of USD 637.

The qualifying round will be played on January 22 and 23 followed by the main draw from the next day having 32 singles players and 16 double teams.
