London: Czech tennis ace Petra Kvitova wants to emulate former world no. 1 Martina Navratilova and retain her Wimbledon crown that she won last year.
The current world no. 4 said she models her game on childhood idol Navratilova, who won nine singles and seven doubles titles at Wimbledon.
“Martina was my idol growing up. She was a left hander, like me, and played with so much aggression. My father showed me videos of her at Wimbledon. She won so many titles, so it would be great to follow in her footsteps,” a newspaper agency quoted Kvitova, as saying.
Kvitova defied all odds by toppling Maria Sharapova to clinch her first Grand Slam last year.
“It is nice to have the beautiful memory from last year and I am looking forward to stepping back onto Centre Court again .Wimbledon is the most popular tournament in the world so it would be great to do well again,” the seven time WTA champ said.
