London: After his recent success in the French Open, Spaniard Rafael Nadal was expected to do well at Wimbledon, where he had been knocked out in the second and the first round respectively in the last two years. Nadal was up against Nick Kyrgios – the Australian teenager, in the fourth round, who came on the court wearing headphones, totally unperturbed by the aura of the player he was about to play. But as the match kicked off, Kyrgios began dominating the proceedings as he had nothing to lose. The 19-year-old`s serve was lethal, and he had already hit 76 aces from three matches, the maximum by any player in the tournament. The Australian not only troubled Nadal with his serve, but also with his powerful forehand, which impressed quite a few experts who fell short of praising his skills. Defending champion Andy Murray was one of the tennis stars to hail Kyrgios` play, and it was evident from the tweet he posted on the micro-blogging site Twitter. And as if the aces and the forehand winners weren`t enough. Kyrgios enthralled the crowd with a tweener, a shot which was even admired by his mighty opponent. For a 19-year-old, to oust Nadal in a Grand Slam in that fashion, speaks volumes about his talent. He is young, he is raw and we all know – an Australian tennis star is born!
