Wimbledon 2016: I am not the only one relieved with Novak Djokovic's exit, says Roger Federer

New Delhi: Swiss legend Roger Federer has admitted that he is relieved with the early exit of Novak Djokovic from Wimbledon 2016.

Asked if he had breathed a sigh of relief, Federer, who has been at the receiving end against the Serb in several Grand Slam finals lately, told Swiss newspaper the Tages Anzeiger: "Yes, but not just me. Everyone.

"It's logical. It means that you no longer have to overcome someone who has had so much recent success at the Grand Slams.

"It's still a long road. But everyone gave a small sigh of relief. It was quite a surprise."

In one of the most stunning upsets, Djoker was stunned by Sam Querrey in the third round.

Federer will take on Marin Cilic in the quarter-final.

Cilic, who was defeated by Djokovic in the two quarter-finals he has reached at Wimbledon, is also glad the Serb is no longer his opponent.

“It’s still too early but I’m more relieved definitely to see that I’m not playing Novak, yeah. A bit easier,” Cilic was quoted as saying by sport360.com.
