London: Of late, seeing a Rafael Nadal-Roger Federer clash has become rarity. And when the event occurs, once in a blue moon, it is bound to attract eye-balls.
After a not-so Federer year, Roger gets a chance to secure a place in the final for his seventh ATP World Tour title. Rafa on the other hand will look forward to get a step closer to his dream of adding the coveted crown for the first time to his closet.
This year, the duo will meet for the fourth time with Nadal leading 3-0. Federer will play in his 11th semi-finals in the Tour Finals and will have to play his best tennis, to defeat the reigning World No.1 Rafa. Though, it is Federer’s favourite surface and Nadal’s least favourite, it is expected that Rafa will emerge victorious. But then, his opponent is not called Roger Federer for nothing!
Federer had a grueling 142-minute match in the round robin vs Juan Martin del Potro, while Rafa also had a three-setter vs Tomas Berdych. While the Spaniard has had a one-day rest time, Federer will need to recover only within few hours. It will be probably for the first time in years that Federer is being considered as an under-dog for a match. In fact, even in his own term he admitted that the pressure is off him.
Whoever wins today, a Rafa-Roger clash is always a delight to watch.
