Kolkata: Indian teen sensation Yuki Bhambri will take on local boy Rupesh Roy in the summit clash of the ONGC ITF F10 Futures 2009 tournament here on Saturday.
Yuki, the Indian Davis Cupper, is eyeing double delight as he along with his Korean partner Young-Jim Kim is also featuring in the doubles semi-final.
Their last-four match against Divij Sharan and Vishnu Vardhan was interrupted due to intermittent showers and if weather permits, the match will be completed on Friday night.
Playing before the home crowd at the BTA Complex courts, eighth seed Rupesh Roy sprang the upset of the day showing top seed Daniel King-Turner of New Zealand the exit door.It took Rupesh 86 minutes to despatch the New Zealand Davis Cupper 6-4, 6-2.
In form Yuki, seeded fifth, stunned second seed Alexander Satschko of Germany 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 in 143 minutes.
After the first set went with serves till 5-5, Yuki broke Satschko in the 11th game and served out the set in the 12th in a 63-minute first set.The second set also had one break in the sixth game as Satschko bounced back to equalise 6-3. But Yuki broke Satschko in the second and sixth games to clinch the issue 6-1.
It was a heartbreak for Satschko who had won the last two ITFs in Kolkata and was eyeing for a hat-trick.
The top seed duo of Rohan Gajjar and Purav Raja defeated I-Ta Chen and Cheng-Peng Hsieh of Taipei 6-2, 6-4 to make the doubles final.
