No issue in Gujarat for Assembly elections 2012

Gandhinagar: Political leaders lure voters ahead of every election in the name of development. But in reality there is a huge gap between democracy, development and public interest in India.

People deliberate over welfare and development issues before casting their votes during election. In the process they hope for a better life. But at times it is just lip service by the politicians and the voters are fooled by them. It is the responsibility of leaders to respond to the expectations of the people’s aspirations buy such is not the case all the time.

On a larger perspective, people generally keep few issues in their mind before casting their votes like caste, creed, languages and regionalism. But Gujarat Assembly polls are way ahead of these issues. Election issues in this state are always pre-decided - be it the Ram Mandir issue or division in Congress.

‘Hindutva’ was the main issue in 2002 elections and development in 2007. But it seems that none of the issues are left for 2012 polls.
