Panaji: The Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) top brass will meet in New Delhi on Tuesday to decide on seat-sharing and candidates for the forthcoming Goa polls, a Congress leader here said.

Addressing a press conference in Panaji on Monday, Congress spokesperson Ramakant Khalap said top leaders from both parties would meet in the national capital to resolve all the issues related to the March 3 polls.

"Our Chief Minister (Digambar Kamat) and the state president will be in New Delhi, along with other senior leaders," Khalap said.

The Congress is currently ruling Goa along with the NCP and the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MCP). The latter has been lobbying with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for a pre-poll alliance, while the Congress and the NCP have been huddling together over the last several months.

While the NCP has demanded eight seats in the 40-member Goa Legislative Assembly, the Congress has not made its cards open about how many seats it is laying claim to.

"Our election committee will also be meeting in Delhi tomorrow to screen the names of Congressmen in Goa who have applied for a ticket," Khalap said.
