Panaji: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to make finger-printing and spot photographs of voters compulsory for Goa assembly election of March 3.

Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quraishi said here that "if the Goa experiment is successful, the project would be replicated across India".

Every voter will have his/her photograph clicked and thumb-print taken at the booth.

The system was earlier implemented in Goa in 2009 Lok Sabha and zilla panchayat polls.

Quraishi, who was here to review the poll preparations, said the state had already achieved a target of 100 per cent photo-electoral rolls.
