Panaji: Two suburban localities dotting capital city of Panaji have been identified as trouble spots by the Goa election authorities who are making preparations for the Assembly poll on March 3.

District Election Officer Mihir Vardhan told a news agency that Santa Cruz and Chimbel have been identified as "most vulnerable areas" for the forthcoming polls.

The authorities have decided to appoint Special Officers in both areas to monitor activities of anti-social elements.

While Santa Cruz has a history of trouble during elections, Chimbel has a slum locality, Indiranagar, which police said, is a hideout for anti-social elements.

Vardhan said the election machinery will ensure that there is peace in these areas so that people don't hesitate to come out and vote in large numbers.

The officials have also prepared an extensive list of sensitive and hyper sensitive polling booths.

There are 77 such booths, which will have additional police presence, Vardhan said.

The state government has requisitioned 30 companies (around 3,000 personnel) of paramilitary forces who will maintain law and order around these booths.
