Imphal: Unidentified insurgents attacked the house of Manipur assembly speaker I Hemochandra by lobbing and exploding a grenade at his house at Shingjamei in Imphal west district of Manipur but no casualty was reported, police said on Friday.

Sources said the insurgent exploded the bomb late last night at the gate of Hemochandra's house late last night but no one was injured.

They said insurgents have been targeting the candidates or their supporters saying Congress was working against the 'revolutionary movement' in Manipur.

Sources said insurgents have been targeting the party workers in the past two weeks by lobbing and exploding grenades and bombs in which three persons have been injured.

A Congress spokesperson said party workers were being targeted while other parties were left untouched.
