Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday promised to provide jobs, free laptops and Rs two-lakh worth medical care to the poor if the ruling SAD-BJP combine is voted back to power in the upcoming Assembly polls.

In a statement, Badal said a decision to this effect would be taken in the first meeting of the government, after it is formed following the January 30 polls.

He said that all the welfare schemes and incentives promised in SAD's election manifesto would also be implemented in the first Cabinet meeting.

"We have always treated our election manifesto as a sacred document and our performance in our present tenure is proof of our approach," he added.

Badal said that if the SAD-BJP alliance is voted to power in the state, it would be his last tenure as Chief Minister.

"If our alliance is voted back in power, it will be my last tenure as Chief Minister and I want to be remembered as someone who throughout his political career never rolled back on his commitment made to the poor," he said.
