Amritsar: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Sunday lashed out at Congress, saying voting for the party would mean direct invitation to corruption.

Reacting to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh accusing the SAD-BJP government in Punjab of creating a financial mess, Dhumal said PM had no right to level "vague" charges of corruption against the state government as Congress-led UPA was itself mired in a series of scams.

"PM has no right to come up with such vague allegations against the state government as the government he leads has itself been hit by a slew of scams like the Commonwealth Games and 2G spectrum," Dhumal told reporters during a visit to the city.

Observing that voting for the Congress in a scenario like this was a direct invitation to corruption, the BJP leader said if Union Government has given funds to Punjab it was the outcome of huge money sent in the form of taxes to the Centre by the Government of Punjab.

Dhumal said in many states political parties were having a consecutive second term in office and this is exactly what is going to happen in the case of SAD-BJP government in Punjab due to record development in the last five years.

Talking about Congress' election manifesto for Punjab, he said it had been announced without application of mind, since many promises like one rank one pension made in it were beyond reach of the state unit of the party as it was the prerogative of the Union Government.

Refuting the charge of misutilization of funds by state Government in the last five years he said it was unfair on part of Prime Minister to say MNREGA funds were not used properly in Punjab.

PM himself is the chairman of MNREGA and well aware how much of funds were misused in many Congress-ruled states, he said.
