New Delhi: The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) scheduled for January 29, has been deferred to May 5 in the poll-bound states of Manipur, Punjab and Uttarakhand.

The examination was postponed in view of the advice of the Election Commission, said a statement issued by CBSE here today.

It said candidates appearing from CTET in these states are advised to preserve the admit cards to appear for the postponed examination on May 5.

In the remaining states the test will be held as per the schedule on January 29.

CTET is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education for recruitment of teachers for classes I to VIII.

The CTET score and certificate also apply to schools of the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Tibetan Schools, etc) and schools under the administrative control of UT of Chandigarh and Andaman and Nicobar unaided private schools, who may exercise the option of considering the CTET.
