BJP silences Uma’s anti-Kushwaha bugle

Zeenews Bureau

Lucknow: The induction of scam-accused former Uttar Pradesh minister Babu Singh Kushwaha into BJP is turning out to be a headache for the main opposition party with its senior leader UMA Bharti now threatening to quit campaigning for the upcoming Assembly polls in the state.

Reports, Friday, suggested that Uma Bharti is upset with Kushwaha’s entry into the party and the fire-brand leader has decided to take up the issue with senior party leaders.

Bharti is also miffed that her candidates are not being accommodated in ticket distribution. Other than Kushwaha, she is opposed to the induction of Bhadshah Singh who had fallen out with her during the 2002 elections in UP.

However, Uma later rejected media reports suggesting that she won’t campaign for her party in the upcoming assembly polls. Bharti, instead, said that she will hold around 30 meetings in the next four days and cement her party’s poll prospects.

Not only Uma Bharti, but many other leaders from BJP and the RSS have also expressed their displeasure over Kushwaha’s entry into the party.

The strongest attack on the BJP came from its mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh yesterday, which urged the people of Uttar Pradesh not to vote for "party hoppers and tainted people".

Maneka Gandhi, BJP MP from Aaonla in Uttar Pradesh, criticised the decision to induct Kushwaha a day after leaders like Yogi Adityanath and Kirti Azad openly criticized the move to bring into the party fold a man the party was targeting for involvement in the NRHM scam.

"Taking into the party people who have been thrown out by BSP does not show us in good light. Nobody was consulted before inducting him. These leaders were reaping illegal benefits as ministers and no work was done," Gandhi said.

Senior leaders L K Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Murli Manohar Joshi have already opposed the decision.

With a growing number of leaders opposing Kushwaha's induction, rumours are thick that the decision may be revoked. But sources close to party president Nitin Gadkari said he is likely to stick to his decision on the argument that Kushwaha will bring OBC votes to the party.

BJP leader Yashwant Sinha defended the decision, saying Kushwaha has come as a "whistleblower" to the party and will expose the deeds of UP Chief Minister Mayawati.

In fact, when BJP supported the agitation of Shri Anna Hazare for the wr against corruption in Indi, the mass felt that atleast there is a mjor political party who is with the common man in fighting against the corruption. But the induction of Kushwha turn out to be a major catatrophy. Today the people of india feel that BJP support corrupt as much congress does. BJP with just this induction of a corrupt politician is going to lose more than 50% of the nutral votes for sure!!!!!
