Bhagalpur (Bihar): BJP on Saturday hit out at Rahul Gandhi for taking potshots at Uma Bharti, saying the Congress general secretary should remember his family's history before questioning Bharti's right to contest the Uttar Pradesh polls. "Rahul should have looked within his own family before passing a comment on Bharti of being an outsider and questioning her right to contest the UP Assembly polls," BJP national spokesman Syed Shahanwaz Hussain told reporters.
Any citizen has a right to contest polls from anywhere in the country, he said and described the Congress leader's comment as "nonsense". Hussain claimed Rahul's diatribe against Bharti was prompted by fear in the Congress camp as she was capable of swaying the electorate not only in her constituency but the entire state. PTI
