Allahabad: A case was lodged against BSP MLA from Allahabad (West) Pooja Pal here on Friday and more than a dozen vehicles belonging to party supporters were seized after a poll procession was taken allegedly without prior permission from authorities.

The case was lodged in Dhoomanganj police station area of the city where Pal and her supporters had taken out a procession without obtaining due permission, which amounted to violation of code of conduct which is in force in view of the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Circle Officer Anurag Darshan said.

He said as many as 13 vehicles, apparently belonging to party supporters, which formed the MLA's cavalcade have also been seized.

Meanwhile, more than Rs 20 lakh in cash was recovered from three vehicles in different parts of the district and a number of people taken into custody, police said.

While Rs 9.5 lakh were recovered from a car at Bamrauli on the outskirts of the city, Rs 15 lakh were seized from two vehicles in Soraon, which falls in the district's trans-Ganga region, police said, adding that all occupants of the three vehicles have been taken into custody for interrogation.
