Faizabad: A criminal case has been lodged at Maharajganj police station in the district against BSP candidate from Gosaiganj assembly seat for allegedly threatening voters and having them beaten up brutally. BSP candidate Indra Pratap Tiwari alias Khabbu Tiwari has been accused of asking his goons armed with rifles and pistols to beat a group of voters when they said they will vote for the Samajwadi Party in the ensuing assembly polls in the state, officer-in-charge of the police station said.
A case has been lodged and the information sent to the election commission, the officer said. The complainant has alleged that he and his associates were returning home on Sunday afternoon when they were intercepted by Tiwari and his heavily armed goons.
They were asked which party they will vote for in the coming polls and when they said they will vote for the Samajwadi Party, on Tiwari's orders his cronies started beating them with rifle butts and hockey sticks. PTI
