Lucknow: BSP turncoat Naresh Agarwal on Friday appointed the Samajwadi Party's national general secretary by its chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.

"The appointment has been made by the party president. He hopes that it would help in strengthening the party," SP National Spokesman Ram Gopal Yadav said.

A BSP Rajya Sabha MP, Agarwal has recently joined SP with his son BSP MLA Nitin Agarwal, who was denied the ticket for the Assembly polls.
