Gorakhpur: Citing security reasons, the district administration denied permission to BJP organisers to hold a rally here on Wednesday to be addressed by party veteran LK Advani.

District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar said the venue was a busy area and Advani had Z+ security cover, adding it would be difficult for police to manage the crowd.

The DM said he had asked the BJP organisers to suggest an alternative venue but they did not give the name of any place.

BJP MP Yogi Aditya Nath accused the administration of working under the influence of the ruling BSP in denying permission to the rally.
