Panaji, Nov 27: After Mumbai, Goa could be on the
radar of terrorists through the sea route and there are
specific intelligence inputs about this, Home Minister Ravi
Naik said on Thursday.
Naik, who participated in the security review meeting
here following Mumbai attacks, said the police have received
certain intelligence inputs.
"I don't want to share it with the media. They are
something very secret," the Home Minister told reporters
outside Chief Minister Digamber Kamat's residence here.
The Home Minister's claim, however, was not
substantiated by Kamat who briefed the press after the
security review a few hours later.
"This (Mumbai attack) has happened just last night.
How can we get the inputs?" the Chief Minister countered a
question.
Incidently, the Home Minister was sitting besides him
for the press conference, when he refuted the statement.
State Chief Secretary J P Singh, Director General of
Police B S Brar and Inspector General of Police Kishan Kumar
were also present for the press conference.
Goa, a state on the western coast, today heightened
its security apparatus along the 105-km-long coastline
following the attacks in Mumbai.
The state government, at a high-level security meeting
today, roped in Indian Coast Guard, Customs department and
Indian Navy to guard the coast.
