Jalna, Feb 14: Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Saturday said that the State government would take a decision for upliftment of Maratha community and would give reservation to the community without disturbing reservation of OBCs, SCs and others.

Chavan was speaking at 'Jan-Jagrukta Abhiyan' (public awareness) rally at Mama Chowk.

He said that the government has asked the Bapat Commission to review and give suggestions on economic, employment and educational opportunities of the community. He lambasted some leaders who are making politics in the name of reservation.

On development of minority communities, Chavan said that Maharashtra is the first state which implemented the Sachchar Committee report. The State government has carved separate welfare department for the minority and allotted Rs 127 crore for it.

He said that the government has taken a decision for releasing more funds for the minority dominated wards. The State government and the Union Government have taken historic decisions for ameliorating farmers by releasing special package, he added.

He said that drinking water problem of the town would be solved very soon.
