New Delhi, March 02: A day after NCP demanded 50 per cent share of the seats in Maharashtra and a national alliance with the party, Congress today said it would sit together with its alliance partner to find a solution.

"Let me assure you that nothing is going to change the basic fact that we are fully capable of sitting together and find an amicable solution," party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters here.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar had yesterday said, "We want to have an alliance with the Congress at national level. And it will benefit everyone I think. But if it doesn't happen we will think for an alternative".

Singhvi said the party's relationship with NCP was long standing and they have been in government together on two occasions.

"It will happen for the third time also...We will sit on the table and decide. No one should have a doubt," he said.

Asked when will the seats be decided, he said talks are on. "Before the filing of the nominations, all arrangements will be in place," he said.

To a query whether the Congress will go for a national alliance with the NCP even though the CWC had rejected the concept last month, Singhvi said, "I cannot say anything on this at this stage. We are not anti-alliance".
