Patna, March 13: Senior JD(U) leader Jagannath Mishra on Friday asked the Bihar government to send detailed project report (DPR) to the Centre for release of Rs 14,800 crore package for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Kosi region devastated by the deluge.

"The Bihar government has not sent the DPR for the approval of a package worth Rs 14,800 crore for the rehabilitation in Kosi-ravaged region, whereas the central team had directed on January 5, 2009 itself to send the same," the former Chief Minister said here.

"This indifference on the part of the state government is quite amusing", Mishra, President of Human Rights Protection Foundation (HRPF), said.

Nearly 33 lakh people were displaced in five districts of Saharsa, Supaul, Araria, Madhepura and Purnia following breach in the embankment of river Kosi at Kusaha in Nepal on August 18, last year.

Advocating for increasing the number of labourers and machines to complete the work on time, Mishra said "three coffer dams have been designed for release of 10,000 cusecs of water at the site of Kusaha breach. This work has been completed but danger is apprehended in case of release of more than 10,000 cusecs of water in Kosi."

Gov. of Bihar should sent the report, it hasn`t done it yet. Also the initiatives and plans for rehabilitation should also come from the central government as well.
