Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor is slowly gaining his foot in the industry. If reports published in a leading daily are anything to go by, then he might soon be seen in yet another screen adaptation of author Chetan Bhagat`s novel.
Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer `2 States` is in its second week and it has raked in about Rs.70 crore at the domestic box office. Close on its heels is `Revolver Rani`, which came out this weekend.
Abhishek Varman`s debut directorial `2 States` managed to collect Rs.38.06 crore in its opening weekend. The audience is loving it for its slice-of-life portrayal of two lovers from different states of the country.
`2 States` is the perfect example of how a story in the hands of the right director can be entertaining and can fail miserably if not. The director, Abhishek Varman had a very predictable plot to work with. Perhaps a tad too predictable.
Four of Chetan Bhagat`s five novels have been adapted for the big screen - the latest being `2 States`, based on his book "2 States: The Story Of My Marriage". The author says movies help him expand his reach among Indians.
After playing the action hero in `Ishaqzaade` and `Gunday`, Arjun Kapoor essays a loverboy in his latest release `2 States`, and he can only be thankful that it has given him a chance to explore a different look and genre.
